Hope Cottage Farm

East Falkland, Tel: 31113, Fax: 31133

Contact: Carol and Terence Phillips

We bought Hope Cottage Farm from Mr David Barton in April 1989. It was a section of Teal Inlet, which was subdivided into 3 sections at that time. The farm is approximately 9,000 hectares, and we run around 6,000 sheep and 130 cattle. In the last 10 years, we have put in around 250 hectares of reseeds and forage crops for winter feed, both for sheep and fattening of cattle. We sell mutton, lamb and beef to the local market all year round. Hope Cottage is approx 40 miles northwest of Stanley on East Falkland.

Rural Business Association

PO Box 442, Stanley, Tel/Fax: 22660, Email: rba@horizon.co.fk

The aim of the Association is to act as a representative body for the rural community that can lobby organisations on issues that directly affect the farmer. We have representatives on Committees and gather and issue relevant information for members as it is received. Officials often find it easier dealing with a body rather than individuals and the rural businesses feel that more weight is carried if problems are addressed by the Association.
